This public space can represent a playground for adults. The people could build relationship to the place by exploring the steps, the square, the seatings, the platform. They do not get boring and feel not to leave the place so soon. It would be much better if there is water splash
performance that you can enjoy while you are reading or interacting. Water could make a place more lively, give people sense of nature and calm. Having outdoor dining at the square or along the riverwalk will be good because everyone will look for food wherever they go.

This public space occupies the important space in New York. New York is the busiest city in United States which is within the metro area. This is so called outdoor library. People who cannot stand the silentness in library are suitable for choosing this public reading room.
It would be great if part of the landscape is converted to grass field, where readers like
working teenagers could actually sit or lay on the grass bed like what college or universitiy students used to do in their campus. It makes people prefer staying rather than going home and only read their own book.

This public space is great that the private and public are brought together in a way that enhances the urban environment as well as allows civic and commercial functions.
It would be much better if people could enjoy river boat dining since the river gives the place its identity. This allows the visitors to have different perception of dining in such a unique way. The atmosphere with the unique dining way will make people tend to forget the hustle and bustle city of life. The lights together with the soul of people bring spirits to the public space.

This public space lets the people from the building to have interaction at the outdoor. People get to meet, have art to touch, exchange knowledge through playing chess game.
However, if the board of the chess game could be rescaled to an extent for example, as big as a basketball field, where each of the chess pieces could turn into movable chairs, so everyone who visit the public space could actually generate their space memory of this space that full of identity. This design could educate tourists about the local culture of the specific place. In short, it would be more interesting to stay outside. They will choose to go there often because they can make new friends for every visit they make.

Q5: Public spaces are vital to human interaction. Show examples of current designers

that have redefined the idea of public spaces and explain how these spaces can create more meaningful sense of place for a person as well as create relationship to that place.

Q4 :What is a humans relationship to a office space. What does it mean to them? What are the common problem shared by people who work about their office space? Why are offices like google office more desired? Give examples

What is a humans relationship to a office space?

Basic purpose of an office is a place a for employee to get their jobs done with resources , tools and  space . Its also serve as a place for the employer to observe and control the quality of work of employee. Basically is a space for the employer to see employee working with the given tools and get their job done. That make the goal of an office by the past 100 years.

What does it mean to them?

For a person who work in an office , they almost spend most of the daytime in an office during weekday to get their job done .Base on research, the average American spends a lot of time at the office. This really surprised me when I found out the times which a person might spend in a office space.According to the American Time Use Survey, Americans spend 8.7 hours at work on an average work day. Each year, Americans work roughly 1,790 hours, which is just slightly higher than the OECD average.

What are the common problem shared by people who work about their office space?

The most common problem happen in an office is quality of workspace . If a quality of a office space is bad , its may lead to negative impact to workers mind. For an example , imagine yourself work in a small basement office without natural illumination and cramp with other colleague. What will u feel about the space? Working in such quality of office space, surely it will affect the morale and also quality of work of workers.
There are also many complain about the health issue may conduct in a office space. A side effect of  working in an office is that it harm worker's eyes. This is because worker's have to look at the computer screen throughout the working period . This may actually damage worker's vision . There got even serious problem that it may cause sight problem which force to have specs . That the reason so many office workers today wear contact lenses of specs.
One of the most complaint in the office space is that office space lead to a sedentary lifestyle. When you are sitting in front of your desk for work without any physical activity. This  makes worker a lazier person as they don’t have any chance to walk around or do any chores. Not just that, it strains worker's neck and back. Desk work in an office is also one of the biggest reasons behind obesity.

Why are offices like google office more desired? Give examples

Google office are really desired by others office workers because it a office that compile with other space for employee to enjoy other than working . Google office provide facilities such as green area or exercise space for employee to practive of physical exercise and the active design spaces can promote a healthier lifestyle of employee to increase their productivity. Interior distribution of space in Google office make good quality of workspace for employee. There are different working area for different task in the office. There are not only workspace but well designed rest space for the employee. These give a direct affect toward concentration , confidence and creativity of the employee. In my opinion, the quality of a office space does will affect the effort of work given by the user.

Q3. Space and memory are inseparable. What kind of spaces evoke memory in you .? And do these memories create a relationship between you and the architecture ? How would you be effected if this place was torn down ? Show example of spaces and the real memory and emotion tied to you.

For me, spaces that evoke memories in me always come from the special person inside my life. Spaces that always become memories in my life are entrance of a building where i would normally wait people as a node point. Or an ‘on the way’ space where we walk along to a destination point while talking together. In some cases, it would be an open space ‘event space’ in a building where decoration of a festival where held. Where we made alot of selfies for our memories.

The relationship will always be there once the memories we wanted treasure so much is made. We will always remember back where we held the moment in the spaces although pictures were took at that time captured the pages of our lifes. To be there in the particular places is different than what we took in picture, because the actual place held the atmosphere and bring the meaning of life to us. While pictures only bring back a temporary memory of that moment.

For if the places were have to be remove, the place will never be the same as if it were designed for a better looking or better purposes. Because the newer atmosphere will not be as same as it were back then. The emptiness will always be there inside that spaces although it has a brand new looking . For as example the first day you meet your special people in the spaces and after 10 years where new person came in and new spaces were designed to removed the old . And those memories will never ever be as same. I’ll never said that is bad or good . Because that how life suppose to be..

Adventuring life everyday.

There is this place where we all will go through from our life. Where we first fell for someone we care so much. Me ? Just recently like a month ago, there is this French Village up in Bukit Tinggi around Bentong. The architecture there were designed to mimic a french architecture. Where most of everyone will go there just to enjoy taking picture of the french graphical photos. Although the place is not as beautiful as a brand new building, but as when we walk along taking pictures together, jokes around and just a simple walk on those mossed tiles is enough to create emotion or part of our treasured memories in our life. The main point is we human treasure the moments of our life although new technologies and places are created everyday, we would still prefer going back to the memorable places where we call          spaces of memories.

A lot people even prefer to have a retreat vacation in the jungle, after a long time of facing those technology devices. This is when all the green and vernacular architecture take roll. No matter how, human still need to live with the nature. Example of Ng Sek San works of all those retreat places. Kevin Low PJTC green high-rise, a forest entrance of the building for people to hangout and enjoy on the bottom of the office , and recent new project in Milan by  Stefano Boeri, The Vertical Forest. These are all the buildings towards green architecture. Instead of caring about the likes of your photos, how many friends you have in your Facebook, come back to the reality space. We are facing the problem of global warming and we need to help  our mother nature, because it is not just for you. Architects talk about go green but most of them still care about the form of the building. In our current generation, Green is the Keyword. We need to start planting more trees, and buildings with zero energy. Once again the world, is not just for yourself.

What about sunrise
What about rain
What about all the things
That you said we were to gain...
What about killing fields
Is there a time
What about all the things
That you said was yours and mine...
Did you ever stop to notice
All the blood we've shed before
Did you ever stop to notice
The crying Earth the weeping shores?

Q2. The “on the way” space is a part of the everyday journey. How would you suggest it is enhanced in a public transport and in a building? Show examples of current ideas.

After the lecturer talk, I found out that the most important things in architecture not only the aesthetic of the building, but also the “on the way” spaces.

“On the way” spaces can be defined as a transition spaces or a spaces where circulation is occurring. Also, “on the way” space is a space where human can get from a place to another place. Architecture planning will be imperfect if without this “on the way” spaces such as corridor, staircase, entrance or waiting area.

Why is it “on the way” space is important in our daily life and architecture? For me, I would like to suggest that in our generation nowadays, our feeling could be affected by beautiful things and stuffs. Also, generation nowadays love to photograph with creative design and uploaded to the social network. So, an innovative design can really bring a little changes in our daily live.

Below is the case study I would like to share to enhance my suggestion above:

Q1. What is the future of architecture in an age where everything is in the palm of your hands? will architecture still be relevant, if yes, how? and would it need to be evolved? if yes, how? show examples of current idea.

The future is something unpredictable, even though how advance the world are today. Technology devices making us stuck in a virtual world. With these advanced technology people may communicate, sharing information, expressing emotion, sad ,happy, stressed, sitting at home with all those devices to help human getting lazier and lazier. This ends up human just need a home to stay and do the work for the rest of their life, but is this how really life works?

A life like this will affect you physically and mentally. Mentally, people become very self-centered and even causes personality disorder. Physically, no matter how we still need to exercise to maintain healthy, body to body contact, study says a hug help to release stress. Having fun and feel each other. Just like how the other animal did, the mother nature relationship. Human cannot break the mother nature, no matter how advance the technology is, the mother nature will comeback. If we don't save the earth now, in the future we will suffer. Yes, it would evolve, but to save mother nature. I believe that human has been using technology to conserve energy, or transforming energy to save resources, because we are running out of resources.

Case study – waiting area ( bus station )

In our country, the punctuality of the bus is really really terrible. I always feel pity for the people who waiting and squeezing in the bus stop. With another way, if some little change in this “on the way” spaces, can truly decrease the boringness while waiting for the bus. A creative advertisement or design, people may photograph and uploaded to the social network.

Case study – pedestrian

Pedestrian also one of the “on the way” space who often use by people who walking to work or somewhere else. A little design may catch their attention and also increase the awareness of walking on the road, especially for the kids.

Case study – landscape

Nowadays, government is hugely encouraging the community never stay at home, but spend more time with family in the garden. Therefore, government built this amazing structure in the botanic garden in kuala lumpur. Every weekend, I saw a lot of family spending their time over there rather than playing with phone. Salute***

Case study  - staircase

A staircase is an important “on the way” space in every architecture because human are able to get from lower level to upper level. It is also a space where human often use. So, how about some addition design to change the architecture also the human feeling instead or walking in 0 designs. The picture showed that with the harmony design on the wall, playing with the shadow, well using natural sunlight and ventilation. Especially in office, a little change can also make Monday blue away for the workers.
